CREATE A DETAILS BOX

When I arrive to your getting ready location, it would be great to have all your details set aside in a box along with your gown. This all includes your:

  • invitation suite

  • engagement ring and BOTH wedding bands

  • heirlooms

  • vows

  • shoes

  • perfume/cologne

  • jewelry

  • pretty hanger (anything but the cheap plastic hangers)

  • anything else you’d like me to document

Having these things ready will make it easier for me to capture the details than going on a scavenger hunt to try to find everything and missing out on the getting ready moments with you and your friends!

Steam your wedding dress

Instead of loosing getting ready time while you or your bridesmaids are steaming your gown, if you have this already done you all will have more time to yourselves to get ready. Plus your gown is the first thing I grab to take detail shots and if your gown hasn’t been steamed the wrinkles will show in the photos. Most venues don’t provide a steamer, but if you or a friend doesn’t have one to use, here’s a small travel steamer for $29 on Amazon. This can easily fit in your suitcase if you have to travel for your wedding.

Review how to put on your gown

If your gown has a lot of steps on how to put it on, I’d suggest practicing one more time before your day to have a fresh memory on which items to put on in the correct order, how to button, tie, or bustle. Not knowing what goes where or forgetting what the seamstress told you to do can really eat up your time.

Pack a wedding day emergency kit

Create an “Ultimate Wedding Emergency Kit” or have your Maid of Honor create one for your day in case something goes wrong. Here’s just a few things I recommend to keep in your kit: Tylenol, allergy medication, Imodium, essential oils, CBD oil, tissues, pens, paper, feminine products, bobby pins, tweezers, nail clippers, wet wipes, baby powder, sunscreen, eye drops, Tums, Pepto, spare batteries, a couple phone chargers, lint rollers, tide pens, wrinkle releaser/steamer, safety pins, q-tips, super glue, straight pins, scissors, and even extra earring backs. Seriously, if you forgot something at least you’ll have your kit as a backup.
